NOTD: China Glaze Far Out

By now you know I'm not only an avid fan of owning polish but also knowing everything about the brand and subsequent collections.

So let's chat about China Glaze for a minute. As my favorite polish brand, I follow their collections like a hawk zones in on it's prey.

I stalk the blogs and obsess over my polish sites until each collection comes out. Then my bank account slowly drains until each little love enters my collection.

Two China Glaze collections are my all-time favorites: 2010's Vintage Vixen and 2009's Retro Diva.

Far out is a gorgeous orange-based brown with gold shimmer throughout from said Retro Diva collection. I look at this and think of two things.

The first are 1970's drapes, couches and rugs with those little flowers patterned throughout. (Actually for a majority of my childhood my living room rug was incredibly close to this color.)

I also see this color and it reminds me of when the leaves are just about to fall off the tree, when most of their beautiful fall color lifted and just a shimmer remains. This color is perfect to represent that last glow of fall.

As a gal madly obsessed with the 70's and the booming fashion recurrence plus all things to do with fall, let's just keep this brief and say I'm madly in love with this shade.  It's soft, buttery, and really just a wonderful October-esque color.

One of the best things about this color is that, while it may look intimidating for some skin tones, it really works on everyone.

The yellow helps to balance out fair tones while the brown isn't too light to still look colorful instead of neutral on darker skin tones. It's the perfect shade for all!

The formula was quite standard for a China Glaze polish: thin, even, and opaque. Two coats were swell but I went ahead for the third to really bump up the color.

While released with the limited edition Fall of 2009 China Glaze collection, it's not too difficult to wrap your hands around it.

You can take your chances at a local beauty supply store or a major chain like Sally's Beauty or Ulta. But for a guaranteed find check out Victoria's Nail Supply or Nail Etc.

Off I go to enjoy this awesome shade of shimmer. Until next time...
